SmartRoadSense is a project aimed at supporting collaborative monitoring of road surface roughness using mobile smart devices. In particular, a mobile application installed on the user smartphone processes raw data from the embedded accelerometers and transmits the result of the computation (i.e., a roughness index) together
with geographic localization data from GPS to a server.
